My first bike ride event... it's actually fun.

Fundamentally, I suck at cycling!  it's all about weight distribution.  Skinny legs with big body = lousy cyclist but I signed up this ride for fun.  The distance didn't seem too daunting and it was an interesting change of pace from my day to day rides.  It was also a chance to go for a 'makan' spree in Ipoh town.

A bunch of us were suppose to go for it but in the end, Bro and Andrew pulled out due to sickness.  Only Tsen and I went.  No drama collecting the goodie bag (thanks to Garmin) and guess who I met at the collection point (Heritage Hotel).  Ms champion Lydia with another superfit girl I had seen in many other endurance events.  Oh! Oh! i am going to get 'chick' many times over this time. (after a while you skin just gets thicker and you don't worry so much about it anymore ).  The goodie bag did not include any info about the event i.e. Check in time, start time, venue etc (Note to organizers).  The event flyer should be 'includedlah'.

We stayed at Hill City hotel, and it was crappy - leaking, ants and smoky smell... TV channel selection was great though.  Didn't get much sleep through the night thanks to IM Tsen's snoring <- (payback for the other times I fell asleep first and he had to listen to my snores).

The event itself was well organized and it was a fun ride up for me.  I started slow because I didn't know what to expect but was soon passing the eager beavers who went out too hard.  Climbing is not something I like but I like it in a 'zen' sort of way.  You just pump your legs and hope you don't cough out your heart.  The climb wasn;t bad... it's just fear of unknown.

Mid point - I stopped for water and also grab a pear to eat and ride.

Completed the ride with bang - collected my medal, towel drinks and felt good.  So hungry - so eat lunch (provided by organizers) at cafe'88.  Congratulated Lydia for her 3rd place finish and rode down.

Going down was a hair raiser... average speed 50km/h

Time up - 2:50 (Avg HR 166)

Time down - 1:09 (Avg HR 140 - from fear more than effort!)
